Robert and Richard, this might get confusing. Lucky there's an Elvis.
Speaking of expectations, the recent marketing trend I've noticed among restaurants in Dubrovnik is a "fun dining" label, which may be even more confusing. I guess it still means 'fine' and elevated but upbeat, not stuffy. Clowns and acrobats is what I expect when I hear it.
Elvis, this is so great! Such a refreshing style of writing. It’s funny how people form stories about who you are and what you offer - and the next minute you have almost forgotten who you are - trying to deliver to others expectations (well that was my experience). But, like you said, it pushes you harder. Looking forward to reading more.
Thanks so much Rose, that’s appreciated. And yes, meeting expectations is a difficult position to be in, either you try to meet them, or don’t, each way there’s a negative waiting.
I have always hated the term 'fine dining'. It sets my teeth on edge, it's the kind of phrase a Come Dine With Me contestant uses when they want to indicate that they have Considerably More Money than the other contestants.
Cliffhanger alert!
I absolutely loved this post. Such a great listen. I'll even withstand a bit of Barry Manilow just to put a like on it.
Haha. Thanks Shell, much appreciated.
You know where you stand with Richard....or do you??!.....
We’ll soon see.
I would've put a like on this, Elvis, but...
There we go, Copacabana just for you.
Oh you know you want to.
Now you’ve got me on the edge, Elvis.
I can get behind pretty much any flavour of Brets. Tartiflette is a particular favourite.
I haven’t seen that flavour yet, I’ll keep a look out.

No worries, they’ll have nicknames. Now I do like the idea of Fun Dining.
That's a relief (about the nicknames). I should have known better.
You like 'fun dining'? Every other restaurant here offers it.

Exactly!

Exactly that.
